Every public WARN layoff notice, one schema, every week.
State agencies publish WARN notices in dozens of formats: PDFs, spreadsheets, HTML tables, portals. WarnLedger collects them each week and delivers one clean file: company, location, headcount, notice date, effective date, closure and temporary flags, with a per-state freshness line so you know exactly what is current.

This project is no longer sold as a subscription. WarnLedger was offered for a short time as a paid weekly feed. It is not any more, and it is not coming back. If you received an email from us offering a monthly subscription, that offer is withdrawn: there is nothing to buy here, and nobody was charged.
What stays, at no cost: the weekly file, the per-state pages, and the sample rows. About forty states, refreshed weekly, with the gaps named on the coverage page rather than hidden.
If you need broader or fresher coverage than that, two other publishers already do more, and we would rather send you to them:
- WARN Firehose publishes all 50 states daily, with a free tier, alongside several other labor datasets.
- NewBizRadar covers new business registrations across all 50 states.
We have no relationship with either one and receive nothing if you use them.
What you get
Weekly CSV + JSON
One file per week, every covered state, deduplicated by a stable hash so re-sent or amended notices do not double count. Same columns every time.
Freshness you can see
Every shipment carries a per-state status: current, source not updated, blocked, or parser error. We never pad a gap with old rows.
Company-level only
Employer, site, headcount, and dates. No worker names, no HR contact details, nothing about individuals. That boundary is fixed.
Who uses it
Outplacement and career-transition firms that need to reach an employer before the effective date. Regional staffing and recruiting firms that hire the affected workforce. HR-tech and benefits sales teams that sell to companies in transition. Researchers and reporters who want a normalized series instead of 40 state sites.
Schema
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
hash_id | Stable row identifier, deduplicates re-published notices |
state | Two-letter postal code of the publishing state |
company | Employer name as published |
location | Site, city, or county as published |
jobs | Affected headcount as published (blank when the state omits it) |
notice_date | Date the notice was filed or received |
effective_date | Layoff or closure date (blank in roughly one fifth of rows; some states do not publish it) |
is_closure, is_temporary | Flags as published; blank when the state does not distinguish |
first_seen | The week this row first appeared in the feed |
Honest limits
- Coverage is not every state. A few states block automated collection or publish only on paper; they are listed as gaps, not hidden.
- Headcounts and dates are as published. States correct their own postings; we carry the correction forward the next week.
- This is public-record data, not legal advice, and not a substitute for the state's own posting when a decision depends on it.
